Royal Copenhagen begins to produce Blue Fluted as dinnerware No. 1 in 1775 and is still in production.
The motif is a stylized version of the classic Chinese flower painting that is thousands of years old.

During the 2000s, Royal Copenhagen made an "Accessories" line of the blue fluted with a simpler decoration. This bowl is from this line, the model was later used for the Mega Mussel as the Sake bowl.
