Originally, a rack like this was designed for long pipes.
Longpipes had a long cord, that you could either let hang or place over your shoulder. When you didn't smoke on your pipe, you hung the pipe at its place with this string.
Today, the coat rack is ideal for kitchen towels.
It has brass end pieces shaped like halberds.
2 nails are set in the board to increase the number of hooks.
