Blue Line was designed by Grethe Meyer in 1962 for Aluminia. From 1968, Blue Line is marked with Royal Copenhagen's logo.

In 1965, Blue Line won the ID-award, an international award for good design. It is still being awarded and among other Danish winners Stelton can be mentioned.

Blue Line quickly fits into the modern decor due to its functionalistic forms, almost all the parts are stackable.

The dinnerware is in production until 2011, where it is taken out of production with its variants. Blue edges were produced in a short period of time with red, yellow, green edges on a white faience base, instead of the blue edge on gray faience.
